Recovering drug addict Darby Thorn learns that her mother is in the hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm. and is undergoing emergency surgery She ran away from rehab and drove to Salt Lake City. While parked in the middle of the road, Corporal Ron Hill told her the interstate was closed due to a developing snowstorm. She agreed to stay overnight at the local visitor center. The only people inside were Ash, Lars, and husband and wife Ed and Sandy. Darby went outside to search for a cell phone signal. and discovered that a young girl had been kidnapped in the van of one of the people inside.
Darby plays nonsense, using his knowledge of van license plates to question others. and deduces that Lars is the kidnapper. She went to the bathroom and used the hole in the wall to go back outside. Darby breaks into the van and talks to the young woman. Promising to help her Lars enters the van and unknowingly reveals the girl’s name to be Jay. Inside, Ed becomes suspicious of Lars’ strange behavior as Lars leaves the van to bring food. Give it to Jay. Darby then returned to the cabin through a hole in the wall.
